LG
She calls herself Lyrical Genius, "the hottest female artist from Philly."
Her friends at East Stroudsburg University know her as Mia Waring, the former basketball player with a penchant for busting rhymes and, before that, throwing parties.
Standing 5-10, the former power forward will be one of the opening acts during the university's big spring show. The hotly anticipated Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky will be the main event.
Waring, who raps under the moniker LG, has performed at the Sherman before, but it took her two years of trying to get on the bill for the university's annual blowout.
To have her skills showcased at this show is a crowning achievement, and a long way from how she got her voice heard during her freshman year via hand-to-hand mix tape sales on campus and open mic events.
Waring has slowly created a buzz among her ESU peers. While earning a degree in media communication and technology, she's spent time in her dorm room making music on her laptop. "I've been working underground in Philadelphia for 11 years now," she said.
When she started college, she began to compile her own mix tapes, or hip-hop music compilations, featuring her and her friends. Her song "Party in my Dorm Room," was a modest local hit that she recorded for her "ESU College Mix tape Vol. 1." She sold several hundred copies around campus for $5.
For her, school is as important as sports or rapping. "College has always been in my plans," Waring said. "I'm the first person in my family to go to college."
Waring grew up with three siblings in a one-parent household, shuffling around South Philadelphia, Germantown and North Philadelphia. Music, especially the kind with hip-hop beats, was a staple in her household. She was practicing her rapping from as early as 5, when her mother gave her lyrics to recite for a family reunion. The performer didn't begin to write her own raps until she was 9.
As she entered high school, basketball became her first love and she was a top player at Swenson Arts & Tech High School, scoring over 1,000 points in her career. Waring also won accolades for her skills in track and field. When it came time for college, a chance to continue to play was obvious.
The 23 yr old rapper, oldest of 4 children, is destined to make her mark in the rap game with her melodic flows and catchy tight hooks. It is truly an honor for her to be recognized by her peers in her city and has so much more to offer in the upcoming year! Look out for more smash singles and her highly anticipated LP “Caught In The Middle” with production from Maino affiliated production team “Beats Me” (PlayBack Music Group) and Legendary Platinum Producer Frank Nitty (formerly of Track Masters), Noe Doe Network and New comers Sammy Tarantino, Bugz Ronin, Mykal Riley, and Ryan Waring (Raw).
To date, LG has also opened up for Wu Block, Saigon, Twista, A$AP Rocky, Mobb Deep, Maino, Papoose, Smoothe Da Hustler, Sean Price, Ma barker, Joell Ortiz and Gun Play. She has been in cyphers with Sheek Louch, Ghost Face and Murda Mook and now you can catch her in The 2014 Philly Hip Hop Awards Lyricist Cypher!
On Dec. 6th 2014, LG took home the trophy for “Best New Female Rap Artist” @ the 2014 Philly Hip Hop Awards Hosted at the TLA in Philly. (

Briggette Scott
Briggette Denise Scott was born on February 11th 1993 in Yonkers, New York. Briggette never realized how much love she had for music as a kid. She grew up listening to her dad DJ and was exposed to many genres of music.
This explains her love for "old school" 70's and 80's music, and growing up as a 90's baby she is heavily influenced by the golden era of Hip Hop and 90's R&B. With her dad's hunger to get in the music business Briggette always admired that and would always listen to him play music memorizing words to songs at a very young age. Her mom would complain to her dad to turn the music down or off when it was getting late but he would continue to play music and Briggette would be right by his side. At the age of 5 years old Briggette sang Mary J Bliges' "I'm going down" in front of her family and they loved her performance.
This made Briggette want to perform in front of people and that was the defining moment when she realized that this is what she wanted to do with her life. Briggette began singing in church. She would go to visit her uncle and go to his church every Sunday. Briggette joined the Children's Choir and everybody in the congregation loved her voice. Her voice was so powerful that they ended up placing her with the adult choir. Singing gospel songs was second nature to Briggette as she would put her heart and soul into spiritual songs.
The 1st time Briggette performed in front of a audience of her peers was at her highschool (Pocono Mountain East) talent show singing "Killing Me Softly" by the Fugees. She was so nervous to go up and sing but the results was well worth her efforts. The crowd was shocked that to hear that she had such a powerful voice because no one ever heard her sing before. Briggette went on to doing many more performances at her high school and in her last year of high school her highlight performing in the Hairspray Musical in the lead role of Motormouth Maybelle. Briggette received a standing ovation for her perfromance and continued getting standing ovations each night. Out of eight schools in the county Briggete won an award for most outstanding vocalist from a featured roll and it didn't stop there.
Briggette was approached by a professional Broadway singer by the name of Judine Somerville in New York who was in attendence at 1 of the shows. Somerville was highly impressed with her performance and gave Briggette her contact in hopes of doing future work. Since then, Briggette has been doing performances around the tri state area, doing fundraisers and recently sang the national anthem at Dansbury Park's Annual Freedom Fest in Stroudsburg PA in front of 5k people receiving rave reviews for her vocal performance.
Her biggest performance to date was at The listen to the DJ's "Star Of The Show" talent showcase in Times Square NY. Briggette was 4th runner up catching the attention of Mystere Jones (MJ Mgmt) and winning a consulatation/ Artist DeveIopment deal with MJ Mgmt. Briggette is now in the studio working on her Debut project scheduled for release in the 1st quarter of 2015. Stay tuned!
